Dear Parents/Carers,

We are pleased to inform you that our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils will be visiting The Hive Woodland and Buzzing Habitats in Epping Forest on Monday 9th March 2026.

This trip links directly to our Science learning on classifying and identifying living creatures and will provide a valuable hands-on experience to develop the children’s working scientifically skills.

Timetable

• Depart: 9:15am from Saffron Green Primary School

• Arrive at venue: 10:15am

• Depart venue: around 2:30pm

• Return to school: Approximately 3:15pm

Consent and Payment

A contribution of £30.00 per child is required to cover transport, entry and workshop costs.

If you are experiencing financial difficulty, please contact the school office in confidence. Unfortunately, if insufficient funds are received, the trip will not be able to go ahead.

What Children Need

• Full school uniform

• Packed lunch in a clearly labelled disposable bag

• Refillable water bottle

• Wellies (essential)

• Waterproof coat (essential)

Important – Tick Awareness

As this visit takes place in woodland, there is a risk of ticks. Please read the attached information carefully. It is very important that procedures are followed, including:

• Wearing appropriate clothing (wellies and long sleeves where possible)

• Checking your child thoroughly for ticks after the visit

Following this guidance is essential to ensure everyone’s safety.
