Saffron Green SEND Information

At Saffron Green, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school. Our aim is for children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is to make progress and achieve their full potential. We work together with families to ensure we meet the needs of every child.

All of our children have access to a broad and balanced curriculum and this curriculum is adapted to meet individual needs of each child through quality first teaching. This is carefully planned for and recorded in an Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) document which is regularly evaluated alongside the family.

Early identification

We value the importance of building strong relationships between staff and pupils. Through this, our staff are able to monitor the progress of children and raise any concerns to the SEND team as soon as possible for the right support to be into place.

A Saffron Green internal referral form will be completed and shared alongside parents where necessary. Referrals to external agencies and professionals are made when a SEND need is highlighted to ensure support is sought and implemented.

Additional support

At Saffron Green, we make reasonable adjustments where necessary to support children in achieving their learning and their individual targets. It may be recognised that additional support needs to be implemented to support a child in achieving this. This may take place through pre teaching or through interventions. Some of the interventions we deliver include:

  • Read Write Inc phonics
  • Catch up Maths
  • Specific Learning Disability (SPLD)
  • Reading for meaning
  • Precision monitoring

It may be recognised that a child is struggling with their mental health and well being and/or social development, which may also impact on behaviour. We can make referrals to the following services:

  • The HIVE behaviour support base
  • Hertsmere Partnership Family support workers
  • Numerous therapies (art therapy, counselling, drawing for talking)
  • Advisory teachers  and other services

We aim to work in partnership with our families and value this input when making these referrals and additional support.
