Welcome to Year 5
We are so excited for you to see all of our hard work and thrilling moments throughout the year. In the first half of the autumn term, in English, we are going to be using the book Emil and the Detectives to write a suspense narrative. In the first few weeks, the class will be focusing on the key skills which are needed to write a successful narrative. We will be covering a wide range of topics in Maths including place value up to one million and multiplying large numbers by three digits.
Our main focus for our curriculum time is Judaism. We are going to looking at the festivals and some of the traditions which Jewish people follow. On Wednesday 25th September, we will be having a Rabbi visiting our school to complete a workshop.
On Thursdays, we will be doing our Physical Education lessons, which will be focusing on Basketball and Cross Country. Please ensure that all children have appropriate kits.
In our Science topic, we are covering Living Things and Their Habitats. For the first few lessons, we are going to be focusing on how plants reproduce and conducting our own experiments to see how cress will grow with different variables, such as changing the location and amount of water.
