Welcome to Year 4
Science and Sound
We have been learning about Sound in Science and Music, our class have learnt objects vibrate which sends sound waves to our ears that are invisible. We tested this with an experiment of paper cups and string to communicate to each other. We also learnt about different composers such as Mozart and Beethoven. We created different types of music such as reggae, classical and rock with instruments that varied in amplitude and pitch.
This term Year 4 started going swimming every Wednesday, lots of us were very nervous whilst others were extremely excited. We all supported each other and now all thoroughly enjoy going swimming every week. Everybody is continuously improving and having so much fun in the water.
The Stone Age
Our topic this term is the Stone Age, we have been learning about it across the curriculum. We have read the story The Stone Age Boy where a boy falls down a hole and travels back in time to the Stone Age where he learns the skills that they used to survive such as making a fire and creating tools. We have learnt essential qualities such as script writing and created our own versions as play. We presented them to each other in the forest to practice our drama skills and bring our writing to life.
We’ve also learnt the history and geography of the Stone Age all the way to the Bronze Age. Year 4 have become experts and we are going to Celtic Harmony on our school trip this term to build on our knowledge even further, we can’t wait!
