Parent2Parent

Parent2Parent®: a unique, new programme for parents

We are excited to announce that a new programme for parents, Parent2Parent®, will soon be available to you through the school.

This innovative new programme has been developed by Herts for Learning, the UK largest Schools Company, in response to national research which has repeatedly demonstrated that parents and carers are the most influential factor in the long-term academic success of their children.

Parent2Parent® is different from parenting programmes, which focus on parenting skills and managing a child’s behaviour. Parent2Parent® lifts the lid on some useful teaching techniques and explores how teachers motivate children and promote learning. The programme is not designed to challenge or promote any parenting style.  It is universal, and proven to have an impact on children from all backgrounds and all walks of life.

The Parent2Parent® programme shares with you a number of simple, proven and effective ideas that can be adopted to help your child be the best learner they can be. Through a series of modules, you will be offered manageable and practical ways of supporting learning through family life, and will be shown how making small adjustments to your approach at home could have a huge impact on your child’s learning and long-term achievement. It is not focused on the curriculum and homework, but on generic learning themes.

The programme runs over a six week period, with modules focused on:

  • Understanding how our minds work

  • Understanding how confidence affects our learning

  • Exploring how to model and build positive relationships

  • Understanding how we learn and why this is important

  • Developing ways to support the growth our child’s talents and skills

  • Understanding the importance of thinking

The Parent2Parent® programme will be running on the following dates:

  • Module 1: Monday 1st February

  • Module 2: Monday 8th February

  • Module 3: Monday 22nd February

  • Module 4: Monday 29th February

  • Module 5: Monday 7th March

  • Module 6: Monday 14th March

The programme is free to attend.  If you are interested in attending or you have any questions, please contact the school office. Please note that spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
